Chaos in Paris: Linkin Park's concert during the Champions League final goes awry

Linkin Park has recently established itself as an essential reference in the nu-metal scene. The band is everywhere, especially topping the charts thanks to their album From Zero and its recent reissue. They were even featured in the grand final of the Champions League between PSG and Inter Milan, Saturday night in Munich, in a stadium packed to the brim. While their performance went off without a hitch, its broadcast in France was completely botched by the channels covering the event.

Linkin Park performed on the pitch of the Allianz Arena, one of the most beautiful venues in Europe, which usually hosts Bayern Munich matches. Their performance lasted for 4 songs, "The Emptiness Machine", "In The End", "Numb", and finally "Heavy Is The Crown", with the help of pyrotechnic instruments and a lot of energy. But while the people on site clearly loved the show, the French viewers at home were rather annoyed. Because, whether it was Canal + or M6, the channels almost made the concert disappear.

Regarding M6, it was mainly the two commentators who were called out, as Antoine Kombouaré and Xavier Domergue did not stop talking for a single second while Linkin Park was performing, which somewhat spoiled the fans' experience. For Canal +, however, it was even worse: the encrypted channel actually aired ten minutes of commercials during the performance. Naturally, internet users unleashed their frustration on Twitter, criticizing the broadcasters' choices. But, in the channels' defense, it must be said that the importance given to concerts during football matches is a relatively recent phenomenon. We hope they will correct their course in the coming years!
