Louane reflects on her decision to remove the old version of "Maman" from streaming platforms
Jeudi 20 Mars 2025
As the days go by, we are getting closer to the 2025 edition of Eurovision. An edition eagerly awaited, following France's recent successes in the competition, notably with Slimane and Barbara Pravi in recent years. This time, it's Louane (available on Accoustic by Allzic) who will be our flag bearer, with a song she unveiled last weekend during the halftime of the match between France and Scotland. A completely new track, even though there was already a song of the same name in her discography. This one will actually be removed from streaming platforms.
In 2015, Louane released her debut album, "Chambre 12", a very personal and intimate project in which she addressed themes that were dear to her. Among the standout tracks was, of course, "Maman", which shares its title with the song she will compete with at Eurovision. However, this old track has now completely disappeared from streaming platforms!
If you purchased the physical records, you can still find the 2015 version of "Maman", but it has been completely removed from the internet! While there is probably a marketing reason behind all this (you can't really promote a new track that would also be called "Maman" ten years after the first one), Louane has other reasons for the withdrawal of this song:
I took a long time to feel better and today I want this message to be the only one that exists for my mother. I believe it's a song I will no longer sing. But I wasn't singing it anymore because it's very complicated for me to go back to something deep, something dark. It no longer corresponds to me.
So, a new version of "Maman" with a 2025 twist, brighter and less negative, is set to replace the old track. We hope this positive energy will manage to convince the Eurovision jury, as well as the European viewers, whose votes carry significant weight!
