Céline Dion: Behind the Scenes of Her Documentary "D'eux"
Jeudi 4 Septembre 2025
It is impossible to mention "D'eux" without referencing Jean-Jacques Goldman (listen on the playlist Golds Français by Allzic). While his involvement raised many questions, the author of "Je te donne" is indeed present in the film, but only through archival footage. This situation may have frustrated some fans, and the director Nicolas Perge wanted to address it:
"We had access, thanks to Jean-Jacques Goldman who was present throughout the project even though he did not wish to appear in the film, to the original demos where Céline Dion sings a cappella for the first time the songs she discovers. We recovered photos from the recording sessions and a show dedicated to the album, aired in 1995 in Canada, as well as unseen footage from journalists who had filmed in the studio."
However, there is no need to worry: the artist is expected to feature in another documentary, this time dedicated to the Enfoirés, according to Anne Marcassus, the artistic director of the show.
"Céline Dion tells D'eux" blends exclusive images and unprecedented confessions. Céline Dion (find her on the web radio Années 80 by Allzic) expressed, for example, her initial feelings about the future hit "Pour que tu m'aimes" when Goldman presented it to her. These images allow us to experience from the inside the creation of an album that has marked several generations and greatly contributed to Céline Dion's fame in France.
A successful evening for M6, as the channel recorded up to 2 million viewers during the broadcast of the program and even achieved a historic performance by obtaining 17% market share among those under 50, a record for M6 for a musical documentary. These figures confirm the enduring enthusiasm surrounding the two francophone stars and their album "D'eux", 30 years later.
