Michael Jackson: Another Delay for the Biopic
Mercredi 28 Mai 2025
Michael Jackson (one of the stars of the playlist Pop-Rock 80 by Allzic) remains an unmatched star of global music, even years after his death. And with the biopic craze sweeping Hollywood, it seemed strange not to see the King of Pop get a film about his life. This oversight was set to be corrected in 2025, as a biopic featuring Jaafar Jackson, the star's nephew, in the role of his uncle, was supposed to be released by the end of the year. Unfortunately, it will be delayed once again.
However, all signs seemed to be positive: the fact that the star's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, was portraying his uncle on screen, with this truly striking resemblance, was quite reassuring. But having to re-record several sequences at the family's request took time. Now, the executives at Lionsgate, the production company in charge of the project, are considering changing the format of the work, which would be split into two parts.
We are excited about the 3 hours and 30 minutes of incredible footage from producer Graham King and director Antoine Fuqua. [...] The question of whether all of this can fit into a single film is definitely something we are asking ourselves.
It's clear that the producers want to split the film into two parts, and we understand them: two parts almost guarantees double the ticket sales. Ultimately, while we thought the project was still set for October 2025, no significant decisions have been made so far, and the film's release date would unofficially be pushed back to 2027. Unofficially, because no official date has been announced since the first delay.
One has to wonder if the film will ever be released...
