Green Day takes aim at Vice President of the United States JD Vance
Jeudi 6 Mars 2025
Billie Joe Armstrong and his bandmates do not hide their opposition to the current U.S. government! A few weeks ago, during a concert in South Africa, the band reacted to the rise to power of Donald Trump, now president of the United States, by altering the lyrics of their iconic song American Idiot. Instead of singing "I’m not a part of a redneck agenda", they replaced that line with "I’m not a part of the Elon agenda", directly targeting Elon Musk, a staunch supporter of Trump's presidency. And this Saturday, March 1, the famous punk-rock band, which inspired an American comedy, made headlines once again!
Billie Joe Armstrong attacks JD Vance
Indeed, while the trio was at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia (whose next date was canceled due to Cyclone Alfred), they changed the lyrics of American Idiot once again, this time to: "I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda", referencing Donald Trump's famous slogan, "Make America Great Again". But that's not all: after Elon Musk and Donald Trump, it's the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, who was targeted by the band.
In a YouTube video of the concert, he replaced lines from the same song: "Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed?" with "Am I retarded or am I just JD Vance?" (Am I slow or just JD Vance?).
Of course, Billie Joe Armstrong did not forget Elon Musk and Donald Trump, launching this speech:
"Don't you want Elon Musk to shut up? Don't you want Donald Trump to shut up?"
In any case, Green Day (find them in the Hard & Heavy by Allzic playlist) is always present to advocate for their causes and does not hesitate to challenge high authorities to defend their values.
